Dynamic Reflections

Contemporary Canadian Abstract Art

Artworks by Chin Yuen and Brubey Hu

In our upcoming exhibition, Winchester Galleries will present artworks by Canadian abstract artists Chin Yuen and Brubey Hu. Yuen and Hu have adopted vibrant, energetic, yet distinct styles to intrigue their audiences.

Chin Yuen

Born in Malaysia, Chin Yuen studied in Singapore and England before moving to Canada for further education. She earned a BFA with Honours from the Emily Carr University of Art & Design and a Master of Arts from the University of Victoria. Yuen has travelled extensively throughout her life; her diverse experiences while abroad have given her an artistic edge. Her time spent travelling, combined with her dedication to creating new and exciting works, allows her to create her dynamic abstract paintings. Yuen’s artistic process reflects both the joy she experiences while creating art as well as her introspective problem-solving. Her works have been featured in exhibitions around the world as well as in private residences, hotels, and corporate buildings.

Brubey Hu

Up-and-coming artist Brubey Hu was born in Xiamen, China, and moved to Canada as a teenager. Hu recently graduated from the University of Waterloo with her MFA. Prior to completing her graduate studies, she earned a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art.

In 2018, she completed the Banff Artist in Residence Emerging Visual and Digital Arts program at the Banff Centre for the Arts and Creativity where she had opportunities for studio practice and creative exploration. Currently, she sits on the board of the Contemporary Art Forum Kitchener and Area (CAFKA). Much of Hu’s work explores dualism, translation, feminism, memory, and colour theory. Winchester Galleries looks forward to displaying Hu’s works in this exhibition.
