Tad Suzuki is a self-taught, award-winning artist. Born in Tokyo and finished high school in Japan, Tad came to Canada in the early 1980s to attend university. While in university, he began painting from photographs in his spare time. In 1994 he completed his graduate degree in library science, and began to paint professionally. Specialized in urban subject matters in highly realistic style, Tad has shown his work in various group and solo exhibitions, received numerous regional and international awards, and has been featured in international art magazines. In 2006 Poems Art Publishing (Salt Lake City, Utah) started to publish his café images as open-end posters. Although inspirations for his painting come from the subjects themselves, Tad admires a number of contemporary realists such as Edward Hopper, Richard Estes, Ralph Goings, and John Register, as well as not-so-contemporary realists of the East and West, namely, Hiroshige, Hokusai, Canaletto, and Vermeer. His original works are included in private and corporate collections in Belgium, Canada, Switzerland, and the United States
