A Note
April 6- 26, 2008
Nancy is enamoured by soft pastels and the search for metaphor. She holds the pure and intensely coloured sticks, chunks or wee bits between her fingers -she caresses the sand-board surface while she ponders the next leap of her imagination.
Classical, jazz or Latin music spills from her studio window while the eagles, herons and ravens rise in flight above the ever changing landscape of the sea. A ballroom dancer struck by the sassiness of the cha cha cha, sensuous moves in the rhumba, or bouncing jive often produces fanciful or odd notions of pairings for her paintings. Muse also comes from time spent walking along the waterfront, messing about on her boat , and sailing. Engaged by fresh air and nature, Slaght is quieted from her overly energetic persona to paint.
