“In my art practice, I have focused mainly on representational and figurative work. Recently I have been fascinated with the idea of landscape in a dense urban setting. Taking the pastoral aspect of traditional landscape painting, I have reworked those elements using imagery gathered from intensive research and field trips in areas of interest. I have employed a loose painterly style in oils and gouache to accentuate the beauty in our mundane surroundings, the urban imagery that we see everyday.
Where some landscape painters might avoid the features found in urban l light and shadow on automobiles, glass towers, concrete and metal are as sensual a subject as trees, mountains, lakes and sky to traditional landscape. They can often complement each other in the settings I have created as they ultimately make up the backdrop of any city.”
